In 2014, amidst widespread complaints about Millennials, Walt "Uncle Walt" Brown noticed many of the Millennials working in his EOS clients were breaking the stereotype. To find out why, he began running focus groups. Their feedback revealed a pattern of expectations that became the 7 Questions and 7 Promises (7q7p) framework, balancing what individuals need with what leaders must provide.
In January of 2023, Walt began BITE7 (now 7 Critical Needs), a company devoted to assessing, addressing, and building BITE (Buy-in, Inclusion, Trust, and Engagement) in organizations. The approach championed by BITE7 was expressed expertly in his book, Attract or Repel (published by Benbella Books), and in “Healthy Matters” the field guide for the 7 Critical Needs.
In June of 2026, the 7 Critical Needs became an official EOS Trust Builder. By mapping the EOS tools to these 7 needs, organizations can "flip the script" so employees see EOS as something done FOR them, not TO them.

After a 17 year career as a high school football coach and English teacher, Chris Dawson joined Walt Brown in 2023 to found BITE7 (now 7CN). Chris partners with leaders to build the organizational trust that helps teams and team members thrive. As the leader of 7CN Coaching, he guides teams through their assessments and helps turn insight into practical, actionable plans.
